# FY1 S4 Junwon Story # Story Mount Shasta greeted me as I entered California. I had so little that I was able to fit everything I had into a single car. This season, I got to reflect on my journey, starting from when I developed and distributed my first software ten years ago. The kind feedback I got then from people who loved my product changed my life. I moved to America to study computer science at Stanford, then to Seattle to work on artificial intelligence at Microsoft, trying to feel that feeling I felt when I had heard from real people that their real days were made different by the products I made. I started Junwon Company trading in the comfortable life for a chance to find and do the work that will benefit our society. Since then, I was struck time to time by tremendous fear and crushing despair, especially when I was staring at my bank balance racing towards zero ignoring all those days and nights I spent time on nothing but work. Yet, I did not once regret. I do not have a product to show you today. No financial statements. But I am happy to report that this year was not spent in vain. I am able to articulate to you now who we are and who I want us to be. And when the really important moments come, our philosophy from this year will have a greater impact on securing our legacy than will the products we are offering then. I think you will find our discussion today pleasing since it will give you clarity on how we run business (any business). # Dream We dream to make a world where people can dream and make dreams a reality. I started Junwon Company with Founding Philosophy. Please take a moment to review it (which I attached at the end of this document). # Advances This season, we wrote a Product Plan for Santana AI Shopping Guide, relocated to California, and spent time defining who we are and who we try to be. # Plans Next season, we will develop and deliver Santana AI Shopping Guide to shoppers. # Responses We discuss following contrarian behaviors to help you better understand us and our way. ### On writing the story first Instead of merely recording the history after the events take place, we write the story first and then make dreams come true. Others may prefer speed, but we prefer velocity and character. ### On preferring customer trust Instead of focusing on getting money from investors, we have been focusing on giving benefits to customers. Capital can speed up scaling, but only customer choice can validate a business. Only when we have confidence that we can operate their capacity wisely and give back to them positive profit, we will invite stakeholders, such as investors and talents, to join us. ### On the name Instead of hiding behind a fictitious name, I stamp my real name on the work I do, the products I sell, and the statements I publish. If not for anything else, to protect my own name, I enforce high standards in my products and my practices. This is why people trust the name. # Character ### 인아이화: 因我利化: We make people benefit in harmony. So long as people wish for us to live, so long lives us and we can do good work. So stand for the best interests of people. Make people benefit from our operation and make people benefit more as we grow. Also help people benefit each other naturally and effortlessly. Make a world in which people can benefit other people automatically by acting selfishly. ### 정심언행: 正心言行: Do and say and mean the good. Love people sincerely. Trust that truth will prevail. Only plan what will be good for people. Only promise what we can deliver. Deliver all that we promise. ### 필연완성: 必然完成: Fulfill the destiny. See what must happen. Then be the one to make it happen. Do all that we must do. Or else, we will lose our job. Do none else. Or else, we will run out of money. ### 매사학습: 每事学习: Use every event to learn. Review to learn. Plan to learn. Learning matters. Getting correct is not good enough. Prefer costly lessons to mystery profits. Not getting incorrect is not good enough. Penalize inaction. We have a learning opportunity when we do not yet have enough information to know the correct answer. Find a learning opportunity, then learn fast by planning to check, instead of trying to guess, while maximizing cost and minimizing learning in each experiment. ### 유인독존: 唯人独尊: Only people matter. We make businesses and borders and rules to benefit people. Remember this precedence. Do anything for people. # Fortune At the start of this fiscal year, I had aspirations to reach the point of actively working with a team of talents to benefit consumers daily. I am not there yet today. But in retrospect, I think I needed this time. Before I could found a company, I needed to first become a founder. I learned a lot this year, and I tried my best to capture my learnings such that my learnings can become our learnings. I now better understand who we are and who we must be to get power and use the power to benefit people effectively. With a focus on shopping and with a product plan for Santana, we have more clarity than ever before. Our story continues. # An Operational Memo I will transition to discussing our story yearly. This fiscal year, I discussed our story seasonally to rapidly create artifacts with which I can establish and explain our philosophy. Now, we do have several documents demonstrating and explaining consistent decisions and actions. At this time, we will redirect time from reviewing to executing so that we can get more experiments done each season and find a great business opportunity to focus on in less seasons.
