### Hiring

1. 8 people in the engineering team. All outside of the USA. In South America, Africa, India. All contractors. About 50% of USA wage. Wage level is correlated with time zone difference: South America is expensive and India is cheap due to time zone difference. 
2. Using Deel for hiring contractors from outside of the USA. Deel takes care of logistics, payments, contracts.  
3. Has 2 PMs from in the USA. $190K for a PM with 6 YOE and $110K for a PM with 2 YOE. 
4. Offer equity range and let the employee select. For example, choose between “$100K cash with 2% equity” and “$200K cash with 1% equity”. Employees living in Silicon Valley prefer equity to cash, and employees living elsewhere prefer cash to equity. Offer higher equity range to candidates with more YOE. 

### HR and Benefits

1. Justworks for benefits. Justworks is a Professional Employer Organization. Provides health insurance, tax documents. Legally, Alex and team members are employed by Justworks. When Alex visits a hospital, he will write down Justworks as the employer. 
2. Justworks charges $100 per month per employee. The amount of insurance premium that Alex can save by using Justworks is greater than $100.
